TEDDY’S IN SPACE

My name is Philipp Jordan, a German artist currently living in Utrecht. I created the art project *Teddies in Space*. My work is characterized by a playful yet profound approach to childhood themes, with teddy bears often taking a central role. One of my most renowned installations, *1000 Teddies*, has gained international attention and has been exhibited in cities like Utrecht, Vienna, and Los Angeles. My art not only evokes a sense of nostalgia and childlike innocence but also addresses more serious topics, such as ADHD. The unique blend of graffiti, spray paint, and oil paint results in vibrant, dynamic artworks that stir memories of childhood while simultaneously telling a deeper story.

The story behind this artwork

During the previous edition, I had already painted the utility box on Drieharingstraat, but it was heavily damaged at the time. Unfortunately, the door was stolen within just a few days. So, it’s time for a new edition with *Teddies in Space*!

This time, I’m letting the teddy bears explode in vibrant colors. That’s often how I feel. Two years ago, when I was diagnosed with ADHD, this feeling finally got a name, or rather, a diagnosis.

With these Teddies, I want to show what goes on inside my head: thoughts, emotions, and moods all racing through one another. But there’s more! I also owe my creativity, energy, and drive to my ADHD.

The teddy bears, my signature, are a nod to childhood—that magical time when you still believe in the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny. Once that fairytale fades, you can never fully go back. With this artwork, I aim to evoke that world, reminding you that there’s still a child hidden inside you. “Hello, do you remember me?” they seem to say. They invite you to give that inner child more room to breathe.
