Hi I’m Zoë! I started as a specialist painter at Nimeto and went on to the Art Academy to specialize in Illustration. I was a freelance illustrator for a long time but currently work as a painter at Planemos.nl But my love for drawing never went away so I still like to work on commission.
From a young age, I was fascinated by classical painting and drawing. The ability to express oneself without words and to highlight the beauty of something felt like coming home to me. Images can say so much more, especially when words fail.
The story behind this artwork
My work breathes a sense of nostalgia. My love for history is reflected in clear, sharp lines inspired by etchings and engravings.
I enjoy drawing inspiration from references, rediscovering old stories to bridge the gap between past and present. Each scene is an echo of tales passed down through time.
How did the painting go?
It was a fantastic experience to work in Regulierssteeg. This hidden alley breathes tranquility but is very lively. Over three days, I met and spoke with so many different people, from tourists to daily passersby. Everyone was friendly and enthusiastic, which was truly special. There was even a black kitten who was very curious and came by for two days. The people were so enthusiastic, and I was incredibly well taken care of—I’ve never received so many ice creams!
